WOW! That is
the only word that can describe Winterfest this year.
Fiesta Texas was a great
host as was expected from how they treated ACE at Coastercon XXII, however they
went way beyond what I was expecting with all the goodies they gave us along
with an awesome photo opportunity and a few other surprises. They
are also having a photo contest for the best photo taken on the construction
tour. A lookout box was built up on the cliff just for us to take pictures
from! They drove us up there in 2 vans, 10 at a time, to take pictures
while the others waited in Rockville high.
After this we were treated
to yet another surprise (see photo link below) and then returned to the meeting
room for cookies and drinks and the remaining events on the schedule---Rebecca
from Sea World brought some videos and talked about their plans for 2000 and
brought along a few donations for the door prize pile and a bunch of Great White
bumper stickers, Tim did great hosting his version of the Password game, and
then the pile (and I do mean pile) of awesome door prizes was given out through
a drawing.
Unfortunately after all
the door prizes were given out it was time to leave. Everyone said goodbye
and went their separate ways. A few of us went out for dinner afterwards
and went back to the hotel and watched Robb Alvey's home video which was
awesome. He did some great work with that video and I'm very glad I got to
see it! I think it will be very hard to have another Winterfest that will
even come close to comparing to this one!
Thanks to Fiesta Texas,
Duane Brown, Doug Driskell, and all the other employees that were present for
being so great and making sure everyone had a fun day!

This is what was waiting for us at our seats from
Fiesta Texas....
Gary Slade was also kind enough
to provide everyone with the latest issue of Amusement Today and some
collectibles from Hammel's Park which closed down in Louisiana.
