Opened
in 1992, Fiesta Texas was San Antonio's first major amusement park. Built
in an old rock quarry on the Northwest side of town at the intersection of Loop
1604 and IH-10, it is a park like no other. The park opened under the
ownership of Gaylord Entertainment and USAA. Built as a ‘show’ park it still
contained several rides including the worlds tallest and fastest wooden roller
coaster, a roller coaster for the kids, a river rapids ride, and many
more. In 1996 Time Warner Entertainment took over management of the park
which brought more rides and the Looney Tunes characters to the park. In
1998, Premier Parks bought the Six Flags chain and bought Fiesta Texas from USAA.
In 1999, Fiesta Texas saw it's largest expansion since the park opened
greatly expanding on the ride selection in the park. Since this
expansion, Fiesta Texas has become one of the top ten Six Flags parks!
