Poltergeist Construction

05/28/99--Poltergeist is now open! 05/07/99--Poltergeist has started testing! 05/02/99--Station work continues. At least one car was already on the track, another one was added while I was there. Should start testing soon!! Tunnel seen in pictures from last week is now gone. 04/23/99--Poltergeist is complete! All track is in place. Workers were busy tightening bolts and working on the station today. Appears to be some sort of tunnel on a straight piece of track near the top of the ride. 04/11/99--Appears that ALL of the supports have been assembled. Didn't see any laying around. Workers were busy tightening supports and adding track today. 04/04/99--Looked about the same as 3 days earlier. Maybe a few more supports were added. I may not have any more photo updates of this ride depending on my schedule. 04/01/99--Launch and return track complete, LIMs on track, one inversion done, lower track assembled, supports sticking up everywhere! Will hopefully have pics this weekend. 03/21/99--Concrete slab for Poltergeist and loading station have been poured. Launch track being assembled. 03/16/99--Boomeran and Scream opened with the park on 3-13. Looks like they are getting ready to pour the concrete slab for Poltergeist. A few steel pieces have been assembled in the area where the launch track will be. 03/09/99--Sound like Boomerang and Scream will be open this coming weekend for Spring Break! No signs of Poltergeist construction. A huge section of the parking lot to the left of the entrance has been dug up for the water park expansion. 3/01/99--It would appear that the structures for 'Scream' and 'Boomerang Coast to Coaster' are complete. See pictures on Boomerang and Scream pages. Poltergeist still laying in pieces. 2/28/99--Towers for 'Scream' complete. 'Boomerang' nearly complete. 2/20/99--Towers for 'Scream' are nearly complete. Portions of 'Boomerang' have been assembled. No progress on Poltergeist. 2/18/99--I've received a couple of reports that construction has finally started. There are a couple cranes in the park and 'Scream' and 'Boomerang' have started to be assembled. It might be possible that one or both of these rides will be ready for opening day since they should be fairly easy and quick to assemble. Construction has also been started on the water park. From what I heard at WinterFest, don't look for Poltergeist any time soon. Next time I'm in San Antonio I'll try to run by and see if there is anything worth getting some pictures of. 02/15/99--Still no sign of coaster construction in the park. All the track and supports for Poltergeist is still laying in the parking lot. Joining it is some Vekoma track and pieces for the Huss Shot-n-Drop. You can see pictures of those on the respective pages. It appears that they have started the water park expansion. It looks like there is construction going on in the parking lot next to the current water park. The wave pool will be going here. 01/18/99--More track and supports in the parking lot for Poltergeist. No Vekoma track spotted. Heard construction noises in the park but no signs of anything being built yet. No cranes in the area. 01/03/99-- As more and more track appears in the parking lot, I have determined the blue supports mentioned below to be for poltergeist. 12/29/98-- Heard sounds of construction in the park. Frisbee is gone. Still can't see anything. 12/14/98-- Still no signs of construction. There is now more blue supports in the parking lot along with more Poltergeist track. 11/30/98-- I think the above pictures belong here. These are pictures blue supports in the guest parking lot at SFFT. I couldn't get any closer than this to take the pictures (without walking into the parking lot). Poltergeist is yellow, so I'm assuming these pieces are for the Boomerang. Could not see any signs of construction from outside the park.
