Cedar Fair, L.P. Announces Plans to Build World-Record-Breaking Roller Coaster at Cedar Point for 2000 Season

SANDUSKY, Ohio, July 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Cedar Fair, L.P. (NYSE: FUN - news), a publicly traded partnership which owns and operates five amusement parks, has announced plans to build the world's tallest and fastest roller coaster for the 2000 season at Cedar Point, located in Sandusky, Ohio.

``The new coaster, named Millennium Force, will be more than 300 feet tall and will reach speeds of up to 92 mph,'' reported Richard L. Kinzel, president and chief executive officer. With its steel track stretching 6,595 feet in length, Millennium Force will take passengers quickly up a 310-foot-tall first hill, then drop them 300 feet toward the ground at an extraordinary 80-degree angle. The coaster will continue to thrill its passengers on a two minute, forty-five second ride as it races through a maze of tunnels, hills, drops, twists and turns.

Located near the center of the park along Frontier Trail, Millennium Force will be the seventh world-record-breaking ride Cedar Point has introduced since the debut of the world's No. 1-rated Magnum XL-200 roller coaster in 1989. In addition, it will be the park's 14th roller coaster, more than any other park in the world.

``Millennium Force will be the single largest investment in Cedar Fair's history,'' added Kinzel. ``It will establish a whole new level of roller coaster intensity, strengthening Cedar Point's position as the thrill ride capital of the world.''

Kinzel explained that Millennium Force is only one component of the capital improvements program planned at Cedar Point in 2000. The park also recently announced plans to build a new 350-room, limited service motel, called Breakers Express, as well as the completion of a two-year renovation of the Cedar Point Marina. In addition, the Partnership has announced that Knott's Berry Farm will introduce a multi-million-dollar water park, called Soak City U.S.A., for the 2000 season.

``These improvements reemphasize our philosophy of continuous investment in new attractions and guest facilities, and reinforce our dedication to offering the best thrill rides the amusement park world has to offer,'' said Kinzel.

Kinzel concluded by explaining that additional capital expenditure plans at the Partnership's other parks for the 2000 season are in the process of being finalized and will be announced at a later date.

Cedar Fair's five amusement parks are Cedar Point, located on Lake Erie between Cleveland and Toledo; Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, California, near Los Angeles; Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom near Allentown, Pennsylvania; Valleyfair near Minneapolis/St. Paul; and Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun, located in Kansas City, Missouri.

Cedar Fair, L.P. Announces Capital Expenditure Plans at Cedar Point and Valleyfair for 1999 Season

SANDUSKY, Ohio, Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Cedar Fair, L.P. (NYSE: FUN - news), a publicly traded partnership which owns and operates five amusement parks, today announced capital expenditure plans for the 1999 season at Cedar Point, located in Sandusky, Ohio, and at Valleyfair, near Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Richard L. Kinzel, president and chief executive officer, reported that Cedar Point will introduce Camp Snoopy, a multi-million dollar family play-land, next season. This new area will be themed around Charles Schulz's popular PEANUTS characters and will feature an exciting 31-foot-tall family roller coaster, five spinning rides, a raceway, a miniature trolley ride, an outdoor theater and various interactive play elements.

``We are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring the PEANUTS characters to Cedar Point,'' said Kinzel. ``Camp Snoopy is a very popular attraction for families at Knott's Berry Farm, which we acquired last year. We are committed to adding attractions at Cedar Point that focus on the family experience, and Camp Snoopy will be an ideal addition to our Ohio park.''

Kinzel explained that Camp Snoopy is only one component of the capital improvements program planned for Cedar Point in 1999. The park previously announced a 10-story addition to the Hotel Breakers, called Breakers Tower, as well as plans for a two-year renovation of the Cedar Point Marina. Together, total capital expenditures at Cedar Point for 1999 will top $25 million, the largest investment in the park's 128-year history.

``These improvements underline our philosophy of continuous reinvestment in new attractions and guest facilities and our dedication to offering the best in family entertainment and guest service,'' said Kinzel.

Kinzel also reported that Valleyfair is planning a multi-million dollar capital program for the 1999 season, which will be highlighted by Mad Mouse, a new family-style roller coaster. This new ride will further develop Valleyfair's appeal as a full day of great family entertainment, added Kinzel.

Kinzel concluded by explaining that construction on Ghost Rider, the new wooden roller coaster at Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, California, is on schedule to open in late November 1998. In addition, expansion plans at the Partnership's other two parks (Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom near Allentown, Pennsylvania and Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun in Kansas City, Missouri) are in the process of being finalized and will be announced at a later date.
